This tutorial focuses on importing Outlook Windows archive (.pst) to Outlook for Mac 2011 (.olm) data files. Users switching from Outlook for Windows to Mac will want to import the Outlook archive (PST) containing contacts, email, appointments, etc.
NOTE: We recommend that you make a backup copy of your original archive (.pst) before completing this procedure. In general, you should have a good backup plan for all your important files.
From Outlook 2007/2010 in Windows
Export PST
Step 1) Launch the Outlook client for 2011 and click on File
Step 2) Click on Options and select the Import/Export wizard.
Step 3) Select Export to a file option and hit Next.
Step 4) Under File Type, select Outlook Data File(.pst) and hit Next.
Step 5) Next step is to make sure Include subfolders is checked, this makes sure that all data including, Emails, Calendar, Contacts, Drafts, etc are exported.
Step 6) Give the Outlook Data File(.pst) a name and choose where you want it to be saved and hit Finish.
Step 7) Password should be given to secure the file, once done it will again ask you to enter the password. Enter the same password again and youe data is exported to your preferred location.
From Outlook 2011 for Mac
Import PST
Step 1) Go to Menu, click File, and then click Import.
Step 2) Click to select Outlook Data file (.pst or .olm) radio button. Click the right arrow in the lower right corner to continue.
Step 3) Select the Outlook for Windows Data File (.pst), and then click the right arrow in the lower right corner to continue.
Step 4) Locate the .pst file or the .olm file. Select the file, and then click Import.
Step 5) When finished, Click Done.
The contents of the .pst file will appear in a folder in the left pane of Outlook 2011. The folder name will be that of the imported .pst.
NOTE : The imported .PST file has now been converted into an .OLM file.
